On March 24th at 7p.m. in the Burnt Hills – Ballston Lake High School Auditorium, Burnt Hills teachers hosted the Children First Rally. Over 650 people attended including teachers, parents, grandparents, administrators, concern community members, three NYUST officers (Mr Andy Pallotta, Mrs Catalina Fortino, and Mr. Martin Messner), and Assemblyman James Tedisco.
Event speakers were all teachers or retired teachers, most from the Burnt Hills – Ballston Lake Teachers Association.
Governor Cuomo’s proposal to dramatically increase the reliance of student test scores in teacher evaluation will have a hugely negative impact on the quality of education for your children immediately! This is a true educational crisis that will impact every student for years to come! The speakers sounded the alarm about Governor Cuomo’s proposal which will turn our schools into test prep factories and create a toxic environment for special needs and accelerated children.
The Governor has stopped listening to educators. Will you hear us?
Thanks to Brad Thomas, David Somoza, and Roger Kopa for filming and archiving the event!
